This is hard. Not difficult, but both gearboxes, centre differential and handbrake assembly is heavy. We used a four post ramp and an engine crane through the passenger door to make life a bit easier. We did have a transmission jack, but the space in the transmission tunnel and between the chassis rails limited its use. The best way is to make up the cradle shown in the manual, or buy one. ebay is your friend here

That said, it's a case of disconnect handbrake cable, propshafts, rear exhaust (to give you more room) clutch slave cylinder, speedo & difflock sensors and gear lever then remove the gearbox. The top two bellhousing to engine bolts are almost impossible to reach and require a lot of bad language. You may want to check the rubber hoses from the cylinder head to the heater. These can get pinched between the engine and bulkhead as the engine/gearbox are tilted to get to the top bellhousing bolts. One (or both) may consequently split.

Once the boxes are out, fitting the clutch is pretty straightforward, just make sure you have a decent alignment tool or a spare input shaft.

Refit, as they say, is the reverse of removal. Don't forget the top two bellhousing bolts. Apparently lots of Land Rovers arrive at garages for gearbox/clutch work with these two bolts missing.
